Unfortunately, most of us are completely confused and mis-informed on the subject of hormone replacement therapy thanks to the media and other so-called “experts”.
Since 1996, Oakdell Pharmacy has made it not only a goal, but a significant part of who we are, to help men and women find answers to their hormone imbalances and possible treatment options. To help achieve this goal, we created the Oakdell Pharmacy Wellness Center. The purpose of the Wellness Center was to help patients and practioners get educated about all treatment options as it relates to hormone replacement therapy. How can you make good decisions about your health if you don’t know all the options? At the Wellness Center you will find access to books, live educational programming, private one-on-one consultations with a specially trained clinical pharmacist, and many other helpful resources to help you achieve the best possible outcomes. Here are some examples of what you will find at the Wellness Center:
1. Education
Educational materials and books that cover a variety of health topics including natural compounded hormones, nutritional supplements, diet and nutrition, cholesterol and and many other medical conditions are available for purchase.
These educational materials are 100% returnable for full refund (if product is in good condition) to encourage self-education. Periodically, we have in-house seminars. Please check our Calendar.
2. Testing Hormones (Sex, Adrenal, & Thyroid)
A Hormone Test Kit is a take-home kit that measures hormones using blood spot
& saliva collection, and may be purchased at the pharmacy without a prescription. Call us today to find out more about which hormones can be tested.
Common Hormones tested are Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEAs, x4 Cortisol, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody (TPO), Free Triiodothyronine (fT3), & Free Throxine (fT4).
The patient completes the test with 4 collections on a typical day. After collection, ship the specimen via UPS in a pre-paid envelope to the lab and the results are e-mailed to Oakdell Wellness Center in about 10-14 working days.
3. Consultation
After test results are received, a one-hour extended Personal Consultation with a specially trained clinical Pharmacist (who is experienced in natural compounded hormones) will thoroughly explain your lab results and review your medical history. Treatment options will be discussed.
4. Custom Compounding
We will collaborate with your physician for a prescription to address your specific needs and once approved, the prescription is then Custom Compounded in our lab using natural hormones; that is, hormones that are identical in chemical structure to your own. (cost
varies, based on your needs) Sometimes these are referred to as Bio-Identical Hormones.
5. Vitamin Supplements may be recommended.
6. Dietary recommendations may also be recommended.
7. Follow-up Care
